About Us

The main reason for our growth and success has been the ability and dedication of our people. They are treated with dignity and as equals with easy and free access to management.

A basic company policy since Tico Electronics was formed was to give preferential hiring status to single mothers who often have difficulty obtaining employment. This is a large segment of the population and if they decide to leave the company they do so with marketable skills.

The third pillar of Our Mission Statement - “Improving the lives of our employees, by developing them financially, mentally, physically and spiritually” – is addressed in the first 15 minutes of the work day.

All employees assemble in the front of the building for announcements, the day’s highlights, a prayer, an inspirational reading and ending with exercises thus starting the day on a positive and happy note.

As the majority of our assemblies are highly specialized requiring knowledgeable and trained employees, we make every effort to reduce our turnover rates. We are regularly experiencing between 3% to 5%
All our employees are cross trained which makes us very responsive to client’s schedule changes.

Another element of our unique culture is how potential employees are selected.

The most important criteria is HONESTY. Without trust in each other, a team cannot function.  All employees are told that there is no second chance if caught stealing, lying, falsifying records, etc.

The second element is ATTITUDE. All must work together if the team is to be successful. All efforts will be taken to correct poor behavior, but if all fails, that person will be let go.

The last item is WORK. We have found that where the first two are present, almost all employees can master the job. We have enough diversity and difficulty in our work that there is some task at which they can do well.

To help emphasize these elements, the workers can earn up to an additional cash bonus weekly. It is made up of 3% for not being late, 3% based on their attitude and the final 3% on their work performance

Tico Two is our second facility, located adjacent to the original building in the same Free Zone.

It was incorporated Q1 of 2006 and was added due to increased sales and a need for more floor space.

Flexibility and growth are not a problem for us whether space and/or adding quality people and Tico Two is a part of that process.

We have voice over IP which allows us to communicate more cost effectively and provides our U.S. customers with a U.S. area code in order to also contact us economically – that number is (646) 289-8075.

All employees are covered with medical, dental and optical health coverage.

Tico Electronics takes great pride in its people. We have grown drastically since 1999 and in 2006 we eclipsed 200 employees; however we continuously strive to maintain our core identity. Our employees are happy and content and we all look for ways to make the work place a safe, successful, productive, creative and happy one. We have a unique style in our work place and we will always strive to keep it that way.

For example we start every day with a variety of activities that inform, inspire and help our people. Our morning meeting that takes place in front of the building as shown in the picture; begins with special activities for the day, announcements, b-days, lotteries, etc. We then have an inspirational reading and prayer. Finally we finish with light exercises and stretching. This experience leaves our folks a little more ready for the day.
